Formed in the summer of 1999, Sol Samba is an expanding group based in East Oxford. We have played in many local events, such as the Cowley Road Carnival and Canal Day in Wolvercote. We are currently expanding our repertoire under the tuition of experienced band members. Our current repertoire includes pieces based on Samba Reggae, Maracatu, Afro-Samba, Samba Duro, Samba de Enredo and Baiao. We will be expanding and changing this, as is the nature of Samba! Separate Maracatu workshops for experienced players are run by Peter Williams. Workshops for experienced players are held on Wednesday evenings. |

In September 2002 we will be holding a special beginners induction course - details will be annouced shortly but it is likely to run over 4 Saturdays. Please come along and try your hand at being part of the energy of samba - you will have the chance to try out all the different instruments and get support and tuition in the rhythms and techniques.
