Sambalifax

Sambalifax is an inclusive, not-for-profit community samba band representing the diverse communities of Calderdale. The band is based in the Park Ward area of Halifax, and performs all over the region.

We aim to:

Bring together diverse communities, in the group itself and through organised events/performances.

Offer an opportunity to participate in music workshops that are fun, sociable and instructive.

Encourage mental well-being through participation and performance of music.

Support other community groups and charitable causes, particularly asylum seekers and refugees.

sambalifax are a community samba band who meet each week at St Augustine's Centre in the Park Ward area of Halifax. Our group is open to anyone, regardless of age or musical experience. We particularly welcome people from the Park Ward area, and are committed to supporting asylum seekers and refugees. We perform at community and charitable events in the region. We are currently supported by Square Chapel Centre for the Arts' "artreach" project, who employ professional musician Julian Coburn-Hough to keep us in line and in time!!! Sessions are free, though we welcome donations.
