Samba Central

SAMBA CENTRAL are a Birmingham based Brazilian drumming troop. Fresh from gigs at the massive Drop Beats Not Bombs festival and the World Cup Final for the BBC, Former leader Steve Brown and his bateria raise the roof wherever they play. Expect traditional Carnaval rhythms, Afro-Brazilian influences and even a dose of drum n bass. More energy than a kid on Smarties, louder than your granddad’s telly. We are a professional samba bateria that gigs in the West Midlands and beyond. We play anything from batucada to timbalada, Eleggua to samba reggae, drum n bass to new works.

Samba Central is made up of highly trained musicians delivering the funkiest beats and the best grooves. Rehearsals are free and are held at Birmingham Conservatoire (Thursdays 6pm). Although there are many music students in the group there is no prior experience necessary, just bring your enthusiasm!

We play at carnivals, festivals, processions, clubs, concert halls, weddings, parties and corporate events.
