Norwich Samba is a community samba band formed in April 2000 with the assistance of an Awards for All grant. We play a mix of tradional and contemporary tunes, including material that draws from a wide range of other influences. As well as playing in many of the local carnivals and events (e.g. Cromer Carnival, Norwich Lord Mayor''s Street Procession), we do occasionally make it out of Norfolk! (Luton Carnival, Brighton''s Encontros, 2nd Welsh Encontro). See our website for details of gigs. Two years ago we started a dance group to accompany the band, which is now going strong and which is always keen to welcome new members. We rehearse on a Tuesday night, with the dancers meeting just before the band start. Whilst the band is open to anyone, we run an induction course to introduce new people to our pieces. This usually takes place in the Autumn. Please contact us for details.
