We now rehearse at: Coverdale Baptist Church, Coverdale Crescent, Ardwick M12 4FG. The Church is signed by large white signage on the side of the building. Parking is available. 6:45-9:45pm Mondays. £3.50. We must be out by 9:50pm. A dance and beginner’s percussion class runs from 7-8pm and is accompanied by the bateria.

Buses: From Piccadilly: Take the 192 and get off at Longsight Police Station. From Hyde Road: Take the 201, 203, 204, 205 or 206. Get off at Bennett Street, cross over and walk across the green. All are welcome but Republic may be more suitable for intermediate to advanced players or those with some experience of playing samba. If you have your own instruments, please bring them along - but we can provide them if you don’t.

The instruments used at Republic are: Surdo Caixa (snare) Repinique Tamborim Chocalho Agogo bells Cuicas We do not play djembes, timbas or congas as these are not traditional Rio carnival instruments.
