Hi again Mikey, We have people who come to Manchester from Stockport and South Machester although we dont have people coming from the Peak District. You're more than welcome to pay us a visit! Hope you find the right group soon. Alan

Hi
I just thought I'd say hello because we are a band who meet in Derby. We meet on Saturdays though, so that won't help you much. We will probably start our Monday group again in the Autumn, but have had to stop it for now due to low numbers attending (and have got most people to turn up on Saturday instead.
Also we will start a Wednesday group which will be at a more advanced level if that is of interest.. You can subscribe to our mailing list at http://www.kaleidoscope-music.org.uk/drumming.htm if you'd like to know when these groups start.

I think I saw you at Glossop last week. I was paying a return visit after a couple of years absense.
If you are considering Manchester there is also Manchester School of Samba www.sambaman.org.uk. They rehearse at the Dance House on oxford Road which is a moderate walk from Piccadilly. They meet on Wednesdays so clash with Ruido Grande.
You could also look up Bloco Novo, but they meet in Openshaw (Thursdays) which would be more difficult by train from High Peak. Even further out in Oldham on Fridays is also Juba do Leão maracatu group.
I have also seen a band from Brinnington (Brinnington Samba I think) which is on the New mills line, but I don't know much about them except too hey practice on Wednesdays.
Don't let me put you off Ruido Grande though, they sounded good last Wednesday and would be a better bet for you distance wise.

Hi Geoff! yes i remember seeing you!
I was very impressed by Ruido Grande ...... made me realise that I've got a lot to learn and need some one to one on my technique ....... Im fairly new to this though so I need more practice I guess!
Im hoping to get over to Glossop another time, so maybe we will bump into each other again
