AfroReggae Explosion: Day Two, Sun 25 July

The third and final day of a free weekend exploding at the seams with AfroReggae performances, workshops, talks and more

11am - Join a circus-skills workshop leading into a scratch performance with live percussion. No experience necessary.

1.30pm - A lunchtime concert exploring AfroReggae's unique percussion style in The Front Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, followed by a chance to meet, talk and share perspectives with founder José Junior and members of AfroReggae.

3pm - An informal and relaxed workshop specially for families.

5pm - The weekend ends with a celebratory grand finale performance and procession starting in The Clore Ballroom, involving all of the AfroReggae perfomers from across the weekend as well as many others who have taken part.

AfroReggae Explosion: Day Two, Sat 24 July

Come and join us for a day exploding at the seams with free events, workshops, performances and more!

10am & 12 noon - Make your own drum and then learn to play it, with percussionists from the AfroReggae main band.

11am - Dance and movement workshop, led by AfroReggae's dancers and circus performers. No experience necessary, just a sense of rhythm!

12.30pm onwards - Look out for AfroReggae flash performances across the site.

3pm - The biggest massed outdoor jam ever takes place in Southbank Centre Square. Bring your own drums or make one in the morning workshop. IF YOUR BLOCO OR PERCUSSION GROUP WOULD LIKE TO GET INVOLVED IN PERFORMING AND LEARN THE RHYTHMS IN ADVANCE, contact nikki.shaill@southbankcentre.co.uk

5pm - Informal chill-out film screenings in The Clore Ballroom.

9pm - Witness the AfroReggae Experience, a celebratory performance of music and dance in The Clore Ballroom.

AfroReggae Explosion: Day One, Friday 23 July

Grupo Cultural AfroReggae was set up to transform the reality of young people in Rio de Janeiro's favelas using education, art and culture as instruments of social inclusion. Strengthening young people's self-esteem and building their understanding of citizenship, AfroReggae removes them from violence, drug trafficking and under-employment.

5pm - Explosive impromptu appearances by AfroReggae performers across the balconies, terraces and bridges of the Southbank Centre site.
5.30pm - A Friday Tonic special, as AfroReggae's Acoustic Samba band start the weekend in a relaxed carioca way with a live show in The Clore Ballroom.
8pm onwards - Informal chill-out screening of films in The Clore Ballroom including Favela Rising and No Motive Explains War. Members of Grupo Cultural AfroReggae introduce the films and answer audience questions.
